Viña del Mar’s great Latin-American music festival is fifty years old, but doesn’t show its age.
Artists at the 2009 edition performed on an even more spectacular set, animated by an exceptional lighting rig.		 SGM was the key player, thanks above all to the technology of the Giotto 1500 fixtures in Wash, Spot and Digital configuration, as well as that of its wireless DMX system.
DESCRIPTION
An explosion of effects, from the stage to the arena

With the SGM fixtures, lighting designer Pat Henry designed a rig able to instil every element of the show with spectacular emotions:

  • the six panels of the scenography hung between the stage and the crowd, lit by six Ribalta, had four circular decorations, each illuminated by four Giotto Spot 400;
  • the three truss rings flown above the stage hosted twelve Giotto Digital on the sides, used to illuminate and project graphic effects on the audience and the scenography stage right and stage centre; four Ribalta and twenty Giotto Spot 400 were mounted on the middle ring;
  • the MCs’ platform was lit by two Palco 5 White LED with 8° lens (ideal for highlighting their facial complexion for live TV coverage) and two Palco 5 RGB with 24° lens, controlled in wireless mode;
  • on the right and left of the stage, eight Giotto Wash 1500 were positioned and used in wireless mode for rear lighting effects with white light beams;
  • a Palco 3 Mobile with 8° lens was installed at the base of each of the 24 steel columns surrounding the arena, creating suggestive colour effects.
The result

Used at Viña del Mar for the first time, the Giotto 1500 fixtures contributed to creating an incredibly powerful colourful light show. The Giotto Digital 1500 astonished in particular for its digital graphic effects, projected on the set and the audience. SGM wireless technology, used with the Giotto Wash 1500 and Palco 5 (on which it is a standard feature of the unit), streamlined  the dimensions of such a large rig, as well as ensuring perfect control of the fixtures for the entire duration of the show. The light show was completely controlled by two Regia 2048 Live and a Regia 2048 Opera.
