The Duna Tower, inaugurated last autumn in the heart of Budapest, will become one of the symbols of a city that’s is opening up to business and the future. The impressive office building is made up of two 65 metre high towers, connected by an independent foyer situated between them and passage crossing above it. It is elegant and representative, located just a few yards from the Danube, which gave the structure its name (Duna means Danube in Hungarian).
DESCRIPTION

An installation for night lighting effects
The project is spectacular: the solid geometric elements bring to mind early twentieth century cubist architecture, but the monolithic structure manages to also seem light, as it’s completely finished in glass: this enables the light to reflect off the facades and emphasize the layout of the volumes.

Located between the two towers, the foyer is a separate construction, also covered in glass, in which numerous elements remind that the river is close by the green of the glazing (which contrasts with the neutral tone of the main buildings) and the natural stone floor; the raised area hosting a coffee bar that seems suspended in mid-air; and, above all the wave-shaped aluminium “sail” running along the ceiling: as well as ensuring shade during the day, this reflects the spectacular lighting effects at night, obtained thanks to the installation of twelve SGM Palco 3.

In order to evenly illuminate the structure above, the fixtures are mounted directly on the round columns at the edges of the foyer’s corridor, without any support units.

 The result
When there is no longer any daylight, the LED fixtures in the foyer of the Duna Tower light up: the metal wave receives and amplifies the range of dynamic colours projected by the Palco 3, which goes from deep red to blue, green and intense fuchsia.

The sequence can be admired from indoors and outside: the deep colours of the fixtures easily pass through the glass of the walls, enabling the spectacle to be clearly visible even at a distance.
